Victorian Stagecoach Music Box in Wood
This wooden model kit builds a 19th century stagecoach that works as a mechanical music box. Winding the spring drives the movement, which plays Greensleeves while the carriage rolls forward on its own wheels rather than sitting still on a base.
What the Stagecoach Music Box Does
- Spring wound movement: a clockwork barrel drives both the melody and the drive wheel, so the carriage needs no batteries or power lead
- Greensleeves melody: the comb and cylinder play the full traditional tune on one full wind of the key
- Rolling wheels and opening doors: the front axle steers, all four wheels turn and the cabin doors swing open on the assembled model
- Squirrel driver figure: a small carved passenger rides the box seat, which is the detail that gives the carriage its character on a shelf
- Glue free joinery: mortise and tenon slots hold the frame together, so the build needs the included tools and nothing else
