Mechanical Viking Longship with Moving Oars
This Viking dragon longship is a mechanical 3D wooden puzzle that rows. Turn the hand crank and a wooden gear train drives all 12 oars through one synchronised sweep, the same connecting rod idea used in flywheel toys. The finished drakkar spans 46.5 cm on its stand and needs no glue to build.

Mechanical Features of the Drakkar Model
- Hand cranked oar bank: a single crank turns the geared flywheel so all 12 oars rise and sweep together
- Twin dragon heads: carved figureheads face outward from bow and stern in the Norse drakkar style
- Open gear train: the spoked wooden gears and connecting rods sit exposed inside a flame ring so the mechanism stays visible
- Display stand: the ship mounts on a plinth stand that lifts the hull and keeps the oars clear of the desk
- Push fit assembly: laser cut parts lock together, so no glue, paint or tools are needed

Specifications
- Assembled size: 46.5 x 46 x 36.7 cm (18.3 x 18.1 x 14.5 in)
- Part count: 149 laser cut wooden pieces
- Assembly time: about 3 to 4 hours
- Mechanism: hand crank gear drive, 12 synchronised oars, no batteries
- Included: pre cut plywood sheets, fittings, display stand, full colour step by step instructions
- Needed separately: nothing, the kit is glue free
- Recommended age: 14 and up

Norse History on a Desk
Drakkar longships carried Nordic crews across the North Atlantic between the 8th and 11th centuries, and their shallow hulls and oar banks are what made those voyages possible. This model turns that layout into a working mechanism, so the rowing stroke that powered the real ships is the thing you actually operate.

Who the Kit Suits
- Adults building mechanical wooden models and kinetic desk sculptures
- History and mythology fans who want a Norse piece with moving parts
- Ship model collectors looking for something beyond a static hull
- Gift buyers after a birthday or Christmas present for men who build things

At 46.5 cm long the assembled longship reads as a statement shelf piece rather than a small trinket, so allow it a clear span of desk, mantel or bookcase. The natural plywood finish and dark accent parts keep it neutral enough for a study, living room or workshop.
