Steampunk Airship With Built In LED Glow
This steampunk airship is a 628 piece 3D wooden puzzle that assembles into a zeppelin on a carved cradle stand. Laser cut basswood forms the hull ribs, gondola and propeller housings, and panels of specialty paper stretch between them so the hidden LED strip glows through the skin once the model is finished.
The kit comes in two colourways, an ivory hull and a dark navy hull, both with the same brass toned mechanical detailing. Assembled it measures 26.5 cm long, 14 cm deep and 17 cm tall on the stand, which fits a bookshelf, desk or display cabinet.
628 Piece Basswood Build
Pieces press out of pre cut basswood sheets and join with slot and peg connections, so no glue is required for the structure. A full build runs about 6 to 7 hours and is rated 4 out of 5 for difficulty, which puts it with the advanced 3D wooden puzzles rather than a first kit.
The frame goes together first, then the outer plating and the paper panels, then the gondola and propellers. Working in that order keeps the internal wiring channel accessible while the hull is still open.
