This Venice book nook kit builds a narrow Italian street running down to a canal, complete with shuttered windows, flower filled balconies and a warm LED glow that spills across the water once the model is closed up.

What You Build

The building facades, balcony rails, bridge, cobbled street and window boxes assemble by hand from laser cut wood and acrylic. The lighting is fitted before the final wall goes on, so the canal reflection only appears when the diorama is complete.

Before You Start

Glue and batteries are not supplied, so have both ready before opening the parts. The pieces are laser cut and fit together closely, so work on a flat surface with tweezers to hand and keep the numbered sheets in order as you go.

Displaying the Finished Nook

The insert is sized to stand between books on a normal shelf, so it reads as a lit window cut into the row rather than an ornament placed in front of it. It also works on a desk, a mantel or a cabinet shelf, and the battery pack sits behind the model where it stays out of sight.
