Mechanical Manta Ray Metal Model with Lights
The Marine Mechanical Manta Ray is a 3D metal model kit that builds into an articulated manta ray sculpture with LED lighting. Over 200 precision cut parts in aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, iron and brass assemble into wings that swing on a driven mechanism, so the finished model works as kinetic desk decor rather than a static ornament.
What the Manta Ray Metal Kit Does
- Moving wings: the drive mechanism gives the manta ray a gliding wing motion you can watch from a desk or a shelf
- Magnetic outer shell: lift the plating away to expose the gear train and the inner armor while the model runs
- Adjustable controls: knobs set the swing speed and the LED light intensity
- Wire free assembly: a pin based connection system keeps the build clean with no visible wiring
- Anti corrosion finish: the metal is treated so the polished surfaces hold up on open display
Specifications
- Material: aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, iron and brass
- Parts: 200+ precision components
- Recommended age: 16+
- Assembly time: 1 to 2 hours
- Difficulty: medium
- Features: dynamic wing movement and LED lighting
- Included: assembly parts, precision tool kit and step by step instructions
Building the Metal Manta Ray
The kit ships as pre cut metal parts with a tool kit and an illustrated manual, so the build runs one to two hours for most adult model builders. Screws and pins hold the internal frame, and the outer scales go on last, which is the stage where the manta ray silhouette appears.
Display and Gift Ideas
Finished, the manta ray metal sculpture suits an office desk, a study shelf, a games room or a marine themed interior. The lit and moving version reads as a conversation piece where a static ocean statue would not.
It is a common pick for adults who collect 3d metal puzzles, for divers and marine biology fans, and for engineers who like mechanical models on a desk. It also works as a birthday or Christmas gift for someone who already builds model kits.
Excellent kit. Enjoyable to build and a lovely piece of art. One small problem is that you can’t fully tighten some bolts as it would create too much friction for the movement… and so some bolts may work loose and fall out with use. However this isa minor concern
We love everything about it. I am going to put it in my playroom and use it as a night light. The undulating wings seemed to be a real manta ray in front of me. I absolutely fell in love with it.
Have not started yet to build
Caught my eye at first sight. Received my mechanical manta ray in about 10 days. It was my first time to try metal modeling, and I encountered some minor problems during the assembly process, but I was very satisfied with the prompt and responsive customer service, and finally completed my metal manta ray model without any problems. The metal gears are very textured and beautifully crafted beyond my expectations. After all, its almost $600 USD asking price, haha ......
Both the items were well packed. Upon unpacking the items were stunning and looking very exquisite. They were made with the finest metal and colors were better than the pictures. The movements were also surprisingly smooth.
Very good, so expensive.🤑
Perfect quality
Saw it on line. Loved it so decided to order. Yes it's not a low cost item and for good reason. The beautiful made box has an executive finish. Inside the box beautiful laid out puzzle in cut out foam with layer after layer of anticipation. The finish is excellent all the gears and parts are very well made and metal. Shockingly difficult to engrave because the paint is thick and quality. I can't wait to surprise my wife with it for our anniversary! Definitely a must splurge item for your ocean loving special someone.
Assembly was smooth and it was easy to follow the instructions. I appreciate the extra screws and screwdriver bit that came with the kit.
Loved building the Manta Ray. Instructions were easy to follow. Beautiful display piece.
Very neat model , works well !
The metal manta ray model is undoubtedly a masterpiece. Its magnetic shell design is uniquely clever, enhancing the visual appeal of the model and making it easy to assemble and display. The quality of the metal materials used is exceptionally high, with great tactile feel and durability. This model has become the ultimate centerpiece of my collection, captivating everyone’s attention.
. worth every penny!

Amazing build quality. Great customer service
I fell in love with this model kit at first sight—it instantly captured my imagination.
Beautiful kit and a really enjoyable build. The wings actually flex and the LED glow inside gives it this floating effect. Looks like a real piece of art on my desk.
My inner child is happy 😊
My partner and I built this together over the weekend and we had a blast. The instructions are clear and the finished manta is stunning. Best metal model we've assembled in a while.
good product
Whilst the model is quite beautiful, I was disappointed it only took a little over an hour to assemble. I purchased this kit as a hobbyist looking for my next challenge and it was anything but. Lovely model, but far too quick and simple to complete for my purposes.
Ein absolut qualitativ hochwertiger Bausatz !
Excellent company! They didn't have the one I ordered in stock and gave me other options. Great communication, fast customer service. I haven't built it yet but I recommend the company.
Ok all works great. Great piece
I purchased this as a gift for my husband and he absolutely loved it!! Now sits on his desk at work!
This is the best construction set! It's worth the money. Thank you very much. I'll definitely order something else)
