Notre Dame Wooden Puzzle at 1:460 Scale
This 3D wooden puzzle recreates Notre-Dame de Paris, the Gothic cathedral on the Ile de la Cite, as a 330 piece scale model. The parts lock together with a bayonet fitting, so the build needs no glue and can be taken apart again if a section goes in the wrong order.
Gothic Architecture the Model Reproduces
- Twin west towers: the two square bell towers and the gallery between them set the cathedral's west front proportions at 1:460
- Flying buttresses: the arched supports along the nave and apse are cut as separate parts rather than moulded into the wall panels
- Rose windows: the circular tracery windows are pierced through the panels, so light passes through them on a lit shelf
- Central spire and roofline: the ridge spire and the ribbed roof sections build up in layers over the nave
- Bayonet locking parts: each piece twists into its neighbour, which holds the model rigid without glue, clamps or drying time
